Once Upon a Time, 2022
Acrylic on canvas

"This painting is a tribute to my lost artworks and a testament to my resilience. I am a survivor of a devastating wildfire that swept through my town in 2020, destroying my home and studio along with all the paintings I had created over the years. It was a heartbreaking loss, but I refused to give up on my passion. This is the first painting I completed on canvas after the fire, using acrylics to create a collage of fragments from my previous works. I wanted to preserve the memories of what I had lost and create something new and hopeful out of the ashes. This painting represents my new beginning as an artist and a person."

The title, 'Just Breathe', emerged from my struggle; a plea to pause when life’s tempests threatened to engulf me. As I step back, I see my reflection in the chaos. 'Just Breathe', it reminds me. So, I do. I inhale possibility, exhale doubt, and find equilibrium. This painting is a reminder to pause, honor the spaces between heartbeats, and embrace imperfection's beauty. Passage [Diptych], 2021
Gouache on Bristol board
each panel is 8 in x 10 in

“This diptych comprises two separate yet intimately linked compositions that depict the journey of healing and transformation. It is a symphony of abstraction, where feelings transcend form, and is a testament to resilience, renewal, and the pursuit of light amid the shadows. It represents the before and after, the fractured and the whole, like paths diverging and converging, mapping my metamorphosis, and urging me toward renewal. The path of healing is not linear; it’s a dance – a passage.”
